The forest in Kea‘au mauka in Puna is recovering from a severe windstorm earlier in this month of Kā‘elo. Though a little battered, ‘ie‘ie is flowering. Many large ‘ōhi‘a are uprooted, but still supported by other ‘ōhi‘a friends.

Kūkaenēnē, ‘Ōhelo and Pūkiawe plants are laden with berries in this ‘āina of recent lava flows on the slopes of Maunaloa above Hilo where upper Waiākea meets Pi‘ihonua.  Mahalo to our hand model, Ku‘ulei!
