Windlessness in the ‘Ōma‘olaulau forest

Unusually dry conditions accompany an ongoing lack of tradewinds in upper Puna.  Only one-fifth (less than 3 inches) of the usual amount of rain has fallen since last akua, and vog has been present 20 out of the past 30 days/nights, linked to an absence of tradewinds, stilling even the ‘ōlapa.  The ‘ōhi‘a of this part of the ‘Ōma‘olaulau forest continue to experience extreme stress, a process noted in the last year or two.
